Lil Kim is person of interest in L.A. $20k armed robbery
Lil’ Kim (real name Kimberly Jones) might not appear for a scheduled BET Awards performance tonight because she’s the person of interesting in an armed robbery. The trouble began when she wasn’t happy with the house she rented for a pre-BET Awards weekend party. She demanded her deposit back because she was dissatisfied, but the owner refused so she called the cops.
The cops said this was a civil matter, so Kim and her crew left the premises. Around 4 a.m. security cameras recorded a group of armed robbers in ski masks broke into the house and took Kim’s deposit check, some cash, and other items totaling about $20,000. They also slashed tires and stole a hubcap while they were at it.
The LAPD is currently investigating the break-in and have named the rapper as a person of interest. This isn’t Lil’ Kim’s first run-in with the law. In 2005 she was sentenced to 366 days in jail for three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy over a 2001 shooting outside New York’s Hot 97 radio station. She served the full sentence and was released in 2006.
