Leah Remini’s tell-all Scientology memoir to include “everything that’s taboo to talk about”
Former King of Queens star Leah Remini is already working on a tell-all book weeks after leaving the Church of Scientology. According to what she told US Weekly, she’s not holding back in the slightest. “It will include my experiences, everything that’s taboo to talk about,” she revealed to the magazine over the weekend.
Remini’s world has no doubt been in upheaval since she made the courageous decision to leave. “Happy is a relative word,” she said. “It’s a time of change. I think the fact that my family has taken a stance and we are on a united front says a lot.”
Remini has not yet said exactly why she left, but in a recent interview she revealed a deep concern over the amount of control the church was having over her life, and even her thoughts. “I believe that people should be able to question things,” she said. “I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that’s what I’m about. It wouldn’t matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to.”
According to Radar Online, Remini is being offered “millions” for the book. “Everybody wants the Remini book,” a publishing exec told the site. “If she’ll tell all about her years in Scientology, her interactions with other celebs in the religion, and what she went through in getting out — well, the sky’s the limit.” Remini could possible join the ranks of Keith Richards and Bill Clinton, who got $7 million and a $15 million advance respectively.
There have been a number of books in recent years delving into the secrets of Scientology including Inside Scientology, Going Clear, and Beyond Belief, a book by David Miscavige’s niece Jenna Miscavige Hill. Leah Remini, however, may be the most high-profile celebrity to write a book about the organization.
