Lady Gaga to perform in mysterious “special tribute” at the Oscars

2015 MusiCares Person of the Year gala - Arrivals

Lady Gaga, fresh off her duet with Tony Bennett at the Grammy awards, is going to sing at this year’s Oscars. The show’s producers announced Gaga’s inclusion today, via Twitter. It’s the first time at the show for the Gagster, but the details of what exactly she’ll be doing remain scarce. All we know for sure is that it will be something “special,” per showrunner Craig Zadan:

The word “sequence” has also been thrown around behind the scenes, according to Entertainment Weekly. And, in addition to Gaga, Jack Black, Anna Kendrick, and Jennifer Hudson are all apparently working on the same Oscar-based project.

We do know she won’t be singing one of the five compositions nominated for Best Original Song. Those honors belong to: Tegan & Sara and the Lonely Island, doing “Everything Is Awesome” from The Lego Movie; John Legend and Common, singing “Glory” from Selma; Adam Levine, banging out “Lost Stars,” from Begin Again; Tim McGraw, countrying up “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me; and Rita Ora, who’ll sing “Grateful,” from Beyond the Lights.

So, what do you think Lady G is up to? And whose performance are you most looking forward to?
