Kate tells the ‘Today Show’ she can’t pay her bills after Jon raided the family bank account
After news broke that Jon Gosselin took over $200,000 from a joint bank account with Kate last week, Kate turned to the Today show to tell her side of the story. Kate teared up as she explained that Jon took $230,000 from their bank account over the past two months. She uses the account to pay monthly bills for the children, but was left with a little over $1,000 after Jon’s last withdrawal on Tuesday, September 29. She described the account as the only liquid account the family had, and noticed the money was gone after receiving overdraft notices.

Her performance was a little on the dramatic side, considering that she most certainly has other money tied up that could probably be liquidated without too much hassle. She probably made a pretty sum of cash with her books, her appearances on The View, and the scores of interviews she’s given since the poop hit the fan this January.
Jon withdrew around he appeared on Larry King with his sleazebag lawyer and pleaded that he wants to stop the show because his top priority is the best interest of the kids. That’s interesting, because the money he looted from the account was presumably TLC money. If the show’s so bad for the kids, at least let them get the benefit of being fed and clothed by the compensation.
Oh, and Jon also wants out of his contract with TLC so he can star in a show with Michael Lohan, called “Divorced Dad’s Club.” He’s also been sore ever since TLC dropped his name from the Plus 8 show that he now wants to cancel.
Kate’s attorney Mark Momjian has filed legal papers today asking Jon to return the money, and also asking Jon to be held in contempt of court. Jon’s lawyer, Skeevy McCrookerton a.k.a. Mark Heller, isn’t licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, but he wishes to represent Jon in this matter anyway. Momjian has filed papers in opposition of this because Mr. Heller failed to tell the court that he was suspended from the New York bar. Lawyers are required to disclose this type of information, so he basically lied to a court of law.
In the meantime, the eight children still need to be taken care of, and Kate has claimed that she’d even work at McDonald’s to feed them. If there’s a McDonald’s that pays enough salary to take care of eight children, I might want to work there, too.
