Jessica Simpson’s life to be on TV again
Jessica Simpson is ready to return to TV. Well, sort of. The singer turned fashion designer is developing her own scripted comedy series for NBC which will be loosely based around the everyday happenings of her hectic life — and we do mean hectic. Currently, Jessica is engaged to be married to her fiance Eric Johnson, also the father of her 8-month-old baby Maxwell, and did we mention she’s pregnant again?
“I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life – so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!” Jessica explains to The Hollywood Reporter.
“We are thrilled to team up with the multitalented Jessica Simpson to bring this new sitcom to life on NBC as she is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops,” Electus founder and chairman Ben Silverman said. “From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica’s character approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud.”
This new venture is Jessica’s second attempt at a successful scripted TV series. Her first attempt, a pilot titled Jessica, was created as a series about a pop-star turned TV anchor for ABC but didn’t get picked up. She previously shared her life with the public with ex-husband Nick Lachey on MTV reality show Newlyweds that ran from 2003-2005.
FUN FACT: Nick Bakay, the writer of Jessica’s upcoming series, was the voice of Salem Saberhagen (the cat) on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
