90 DAY FIANCÉ Updates on Jenny’s ALS and Sumit’s visa
90 Day Fiancé couple Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten posted a series of videos updating their followers on Jenny’s ALS and Sumit’s efforts to get a visa to come to the United States with her to get treatment. (All of the videos are included at the bottom of this post.)
JENNY SLATTEN ALS UPDATE
“We wanted to share an honest update about Jenny, her ALS progression, and the medical care we’re currently receiving in India,” the caption for the couple’s first video reads. “ALS continues to change our lives, and we want to keep everyone who has supported us informed about what we’re going through.”
Sumit says Jenny’s ALS is progressing and it’s making it more difficult for her to talk. The progression is also weakening her spine and impacting her balance, which is affecting her ability to walk.
Because she is getting weaker, Jenny will likely start using more equipment. They were avoiding that as much as possible because they were worried she would become dependent on it and feel less free.
Jenny is still trying to return to the United States because they believe American hospitals are better equipped to help with her ALS. However, Jenny doesn’t want to make the trip without Sumit, and he is still having issues getting a visa.
“I’m trying to take care of her as much as I can,” says Sumit, “and I don’t think anyone can do that better than me.”
SUMIT SINGH VISA UPDATE
Sumit believes he’s having difficulty getting his tourist visa to come to America in part because of the show. He says there is likely a perception that that he might be running a scam.
In the interview during the visa process, Sumit says things seemed to be going well. “But during the conversation, I also mentioned that I work for 90 Day Fiancé, which makes her eyes bigger.” He says there was suddenly some noticeable tension. “I feel like they thought that I’m trying to go there as a 90-day fiancé by using her condition.”
Sumit feels he and Jenny “have to pay the price for some scammers who use a similar kind of situation and made our show name reputation bad.”
That perception makes no sense, Sumit argues, because Jenny has been in India for 7 years and they have been married for 5. He had no intention to go to American until she was diagnosed with ALS.
“I feel like they think that I’m not going to return back,” Sumit says. However, Sumit insists their plan is to go to America, “get the treatment, and get all the information required, and if it’s taking time then I will return back to India.” He says he would then immediately start the process to return to the United States.
In response to those asking why Jenny hasn’t made the trip to the United States herself to get treatment, Sumit explains they both want him to be by her side through the trip and the treatment.
Plus, Sumit points out that Jenny’s ALS is going to progress and there is a chance she may not be able to return to India. If that happens, and Sumit is not able to get a visa, “it means that we are going to be apart…forever.”
“So, this is the reason why Jenny don’t want to go to America without me,” Sumit adds.
“We love each other and obviously I want Jenny to start getting treated. I want Jenny to start feeling better — or at least a support system which makes Jenny at least feel like not a struggle every day.”
Sumit mentions Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio’s daughter Hannah getting medical treatment in the United States, and how Armando was able to get an emergency visa to be with her. “We saw Kenny and Armando get help,” Sumit says. “I hope somebody will come up with a solution [for us]. Maybe a lawyer or attorney or [a] specialist in immigration.”
Sumit and Jenny’s GoFundMe is still active. The campaign has received more than 2,800 donations so far, totaling just over $107,000.
