Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal are ‘distraught’ over parents Naomi Foner and Stephen Gyllenhaal Christmas Eve divorce

The parents of Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal divorced on Christmas Eve

The parents of the indie-cinema dynamo siblings Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal have legally split over Christmas after 32 years, and the family is reportedly devastated over the split. Naomi Foner, a screenwriter and producer, filed for divorce from director Stephen Gyllenhaal mid-October, citing irreconcilable differences. They have been living separately since January 1, 2009, which means last Christmas probably wasn’t happy fun times either.

During their over 30 year marriage the two have collaborated professionally with Losing Isaiah, and their two actor children Jake and Maggie. This was Naomi’s second marriage, her first husband was Columbia University history profession Eric Foner.

Foner and Gyllenhaal’s divorce was finalized on Christmas Eve, and was a fairly clean break with all assets divided evenly and no spousal support for either party.
