Today, a second Glee star is mourning the death of her boyfriend: Matt Bendik, the 35-year-old boyfriend of Becca Tobin, was found dead in his Philadelphia hotel room on Thursday afternoon.
According to TMZ, Becca and Matt were in town for a business trip related to the nightclub he owns. The couple went out with friends on Wednesday night, but friends said everything with Matt appeared normal. He was reportedly last seen alive by a nightclub manager shortly before midnight and did not leave the club with Becca.
Matt’s body was found in the bed of his hotel room shortly before noon the following day. Law enforcement sources said no drugs, paraphanelia, medications or weapons were found in the room. Police are treating it as a “sudden death” and no foul play is suspected.
Becca, 28, plays Kitty Wilde on Glee. Her character was introduced in a 2012 episode titled “The New Rachel.” As a tragic coincidence, Lea Michele — who plays “old” Rachel Berry on the show — lost boyfriend Cory Monteith to a drug overdose almost exactly one year ago.
Based on Matt’s social media accounts, he and Becca dated for more than a year.
