Garth Brooks has made it official: Chicago is the first city he’ll play on his comeback tour. The tour will begin on September 4th, at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
Brooks was esctatic in an announcement on his website, which reads:
I am overjoyed with the announcement of Chicago and the opening of the World Tour…between Chicago and Dublin, it’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions.
We are starting with the tour page, each city will have its own announcement. The music, the store, Garth 101, and more…it’s all coming. We will grow together. Here we go!

Before coming out of retirement, Brooks played four weekly shows at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.
As far as the choice of Chicago goes, Brooks was even more enthusiastic, saying, “As an entertainer, you get asked a lot ‘what are the best cities to play?’ Without hesitation, I rattle five or six of the best places to play and that list ALWAYS includes Chicago. It is the PERFECT city to launch the World Tour!”
Tickets will cost $65.50 each, and go on sale July 25th.
Brooks is best known for his many #1 hits, among them “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “The Dance,” “Friends in Low Places,” and “Shameless.”
He is also known for his brief run as troubled pop-rock icon Chris Gaines, whose 1999 album baffled critics and country music fans alike.
Brooks remained coy when asked whether he would incorporate the Chris Gaines persona into his new stage show. With a three-year run of shows in front of him, though, it’s safe to say that the risk-taking Brooks will have plenty of opportunities to dust off the old soul patch.
Are you excited for Brooks’ return? Will you be seeing him on tour? Is his new album already on your Black Friday to-do list?
