Florida man arrested for eating his mom’s puppy

Thomas Elliot Higgins ate his mom's puppy

25-year-old Thomas Elliot Huggins was arrested in Tampa, Florida on Thursday for allegedly choking, cutting up, cooking and eating some of his mom’s puppy.

According to Tampa police, Huggins killed the puppy in the morning and proceeded to “cut up the dog into quarters and stored it in the freezer for future meals.”

A family member caught wind of Huggins’ actions and contacted the authorities. They arrived at Huggins’ home later that evening and “found the dog’s ribs cooked in a pot on the stove.” The puppy, named Bandit, had his decapitated head put in the garbage. According to an arrest report, Huggins stated that he had already eaten part of the dog.

Huggins’ mom Margie showed cops on the scene some of Bandit’s ribs that appeared to have already been fully cooked on the stove. In addition there were “quartered parts of her dog that were stored in the freezer.” Huggins’ sister told the responding officer that her brother “has not been right” for years, and “goes on and on about religion and the lord telling him to do things.”

For his part, Huggins told the cops that he “choked the dog with his bare hands” after the pet “began to be aggressive towards him.” He then explained how he dismembered Bandit with a steak knife, went about his day, put the puppy’s ribs in a pot and cooked them on the stove. He defended his actions believing he had done nothing wrong explaining that he  “learned how to clean an animal from his mom as they have done it in the past with squirrels and rabbits.”

He was booked and charged with a count of felony cruelty to animals. His bond was set at $10,000 and as of this post he remains incarcerated.
