DUI arrestee calls drunk friend who gets a DUI who calls drunk friend who gets a DUI
In shaking-my-damn-head-worthy scary-as-hell news, 34-year-old Carmen Reategui of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey called a friend to come pick her up after she was arrested for driving under the influence and her friend showed up drunk and was also arrested for DUI. They called a third friend and (yep!) he also showed up drunk and was also charged with DUI.
According to the Hunterdon County Democrat, Reategui (pictured above, left) was stopped at 1:45AM on December 16 after she was seen swerving on Route 22 East at Route 523. Reategui failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, was arrested, and was taken to headquarters for processing where she was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in her lane and failure to provide a vehicle insurance card.
After being processed, Reategui called her friend Nina Petracca (above, right) of Dunellen, New Jersey to come pick her up from the station. Petracca, 23, arrived at the station and as an officer was explaining the potential liability form required for Reategui’s release he noticed signs of intoxication.
Petracca said she drove to the station so the officer had her perform sobriety tests in the lobby — which she failed. Petracca was arrested for driving under the influence and when officers searched her purse they found an unlabeled container with seven Vicodin pills, so she was also charged with possession of Vicodin and driving while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Both Reategui and Petracca then called Ryan Hogan, 33, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey to come pick them up. Hogan also told officers that he had driven to the station and also showed signs of intoxication and also failed a sobriety test and was also booked for driving under the influence.
Apparently the fourth person to arrive was sober and all three were released. They are scheduled for a court appearance in January.
Though she didn’t share details, Carmen commented about the rather unfortunate evening on Facebook — and if you’ll notice, her DUI buddy Nina liked Carmen’s take on it:
Carmen later lamented further:
So far no mug shot photos have surfaced of either of the three arrestees.
* I think in New Jersey it’s technically referred to as DWI for driving while intoxicated.
