Devious Maids Season 3

It has been almost nine months since the dramatic cliffhanger conclusion of the second season of Lifetime’s soapy opera Devious Maids, which featured a spray of bullets after Rosie and Spence’s wedding and a dropped bloody bouquet of flowers. Last week Lifetime announced that the show’s third season will premiere on Monday, June 1 at 10/9c and they also included some tidbits on what to expect this season, including the addition of Glee‘s Naya Rivera to the cast!

Of course the biggest question on everyone’s mind is: Who got shot at Rosie and Spence’s wedding? The cast photo above has many fans wondering if it wasn’t Ty’s target Valentina (played by Edy Ganem), who is absent from the picture. That theory is debunked by others who point out that Valentina isn’t technically one of the “Devious Maids,” but the daughter of one, and that last season she had received an internship with fashion designer Bruno de Luca in Manhattan and was planning on leaving anyways.

Either way, Edy is only listed as starring in 27 episodes of the series on IMDB (including 2015), whereas the other main cast members are listed with the full 37 episodes. Once again, that could be because Valentina leaves for her internship and only makes an appearance in two episodes.

Here is the Season 3 preview synopsis from Lifetime, which mentions that “Valentina and Remi struggle to connect in the aftermath of the shooting,” seemingly shooting that theory full of holes, pardon the expression:

Season three picks up at the height of last year’s shocking cliffhanger where a deranged gunman takes aim at the maids during Rosie and Spence’s wedding, leaving everyone to wonder who will survive. In the wake of this tragedy, the women lean on each other like never before, even as they face complex problems in their own lives. Zoila ponders her next steps after discovering that she is pregnant and uncertain who the father may be. Carmen realizes there is more than meets the eye to the charming Sebastien (Gilles Marini). Meanwhile, Valentina and Remi struggle to connect in the aftermath of the shooting; Marisol’s aspirations lead her to a surprising career change; and Blanca (Naya Rivera), a new maid in the neighborhood, lands a job with a seemingly picture-perfect family, but soon discovers a terrible secret that could change her life forever.

On Facebook commenter presented an alternate theory (courtesy of her boyfriend) of who got shot on the Devious Maids Facebook page:

My boyfriend has a different theory about who dies. And it’s a great one. For whatever reason, Pablo was at that wedding. If he dies, and is an organ donor, a kidney could still go to Genvieve and keep her alive. Oh and it’ll maybe make things more interesting for “Who’s the daddy?” thing with Zoila.

Hmmmm…

While we ponder that theory, here is the cast listing from the Lifetime press release just so you will know who’s who for the premiere:

The series has centered on a close-knit group of maids, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), Rosie (Dania Ramírez), Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez), Valentina (Edy Ganem) and Zoila (Judy Reyes), who are bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and the melodramatic universe that engulfs their employers. Devious Maids also stars Susan Lucci (All My Children), Grant Show (Melrose Place), Rebecca Wisocky (The Mentalist), Tom Irwin (Grey’s Anatomy) and Drew Van Acker (Pretty Little Liars). Brianna Brown (Graceland) and Brett Cullen (The Dark Knight Rises) make a return to the series this season, joining new cast members Naya Rivera (Glee), Gilles Marini (Sex and the City), Cristián de la Fuente (Valiant Love), John O’Hurley (General Hospital), Justina Machado (Six Feet Under), Nathan Owens (Days of Our Lives) and Julie Claire (Web Therapy).

And to help tide you over until June, here are the Devious Maids cast sharing their favorite moments from Season 2:
