Dennis Quaid’s wife files for separation
Dennis Quaid is headed for divorce. The actor’s wife, Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, filed for separation earlier this week and divorce papers are to follow. This is the second filing this year by Kimberly, who filed for divorce back in March, but then withdrew her petition just two months later. In her latest documents, she is requesting joint legal and sole physical custody of their 4-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe.
“Kimberly and Dennis Quaid have decided to legally separate after 8 years of marriage,” a rep for the couple announced earlier. “They ask that their privacy and the privacy of their family be respected during this difficult time.”
Kimberly, who also wants spousal support and and attorney’s fees from Dennis, is reportedly fed up with Dennis’ cheating ways and wants out of their marriage. “He’s not a good husband,” claims a source.
Kimberly wanted to file for divorce right away, but because of the couple’s recent move to Los Angeles, she was not yet eligible. The law requires citizens to live in the state for at least 6 months before filing for divorce, so she’s having to wait it out.
Dennis has struggled with drug addiction for years, and in 2011 he got candid about his chronic cocaine use. “I’d wake up, snort a line, and swear I wasn’t going to do it again that day … but then four o’clock rolled around, and I’d be right back down the same road like a little squirrel on one of those treadmills,” he said at the time. There’s no word on if that played a part in his divorce.
This will be the third divorce for Dennis, who was first married to Halloween actress PJ Soles, and later wed Sleepless In Seattle star Meg Ryan.
