Community lives again! Yahoo Screen orders sixth season

Community

More than one month after NBC made it sound like the last classes were held at Greendale Community College, Yahoo Screen has swept in to save Community for another season — and the cast, producers and creator are all on-board!

“I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” Dan Harmon said in a statement, Entertainment Weekly reports. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”

So what changes can fans expect? Sounds like Joel McHale promises more cursing: “#SixSeasonsAndaMovie is real. Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest f**king fans in the history of the human race. It’s the Internet. We can swear now.”

Zack Van Amburg, the president of programming at Sony, said the new format will likely also allow for longer episodes.

One thing that fans shouldn’t expect to change (i.e. suffer) is the quality of the production. Van Amburg said “Yahoo came in with finances that were undeniable” and is prepared to keep up the $2 million cost per episode.

The Community sixth season is set to premiere this fall.
