Ashton Kutcher explains how he and Mila Kunis picked baby name Wyatt Isabelle
Ashton Kutcher said he was totally transformed the moment daughter Wyatt Isabelle came into the world.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s the greatest thing on Earth,” he told Conan O’Brien of fatherhood, shortly after posting a new blog post about parents meeting their babies for the first time. “As soon as this child was born, I immediately wanted to call my parents and just apologize because I never knew how much they loved me.”
In the time since Wyatt’s birth, Ashton said he’s been really “privileged” to stay at home with her and fiancée Mila Kunis.
“We don’t have a nanny or a night nurse of any of the stuff,” he said. “Staying home the first couple of weeks, I’ve learned the little things that will calm down the baby. So I feel like I’m the baby whisperer now.. I like to give the baby to my friends and let [her] cry for a second. Then be like, ‘Let me just take care of that.'”
Ashton also explained that “Wyatt” wasn’t their first choice for a baby name. But, after Mila got pregnant, they agreed the name “didn’t fit the energy we were feeling.” In an effort to get more “creative juices going,” Ashton said he started listing off everything he saw at a Lakers game.
“‘Sign, truck, wall, door…’ She [was] like, ‘Shut up!’ Then I was like, ‘I’ve got a really dumb idea. What about Wyatt?’ She goes, ‘That’s it,'” Ashton said, adding they picked Wyatt’s middle name a bit more traditionally. “We gave her the name Isabelle after Mila’s grandfather, who was Yitzhak. And so it has a little heritage.”
After making those decisions, the 21st Century Dad protected his daughter’s name by registering possible domain names so someone else doesn’t start “a porn site” with her unique moniker. He and Mila are also writing emails and sending them to an account that Wyatt can access in the future and “see the kinds of things people had to say.”
