Ryan Edwards’ ex Dalis Connell has maintained quite the following since her numerous appearances alongside Ryan on Teen Mom. She has more than 260,000 followers on Twitter and instagram combined where she shares workout photos, videos and tips as well as nutrition advice and updates on her life. But, last month fans noticed an apparent change in Dalis’ appearance that couldn’t be attributed to any known workout or diet: larger breasts!

Dalis eventually admitted that she did indeed have breast augmentation surgery in a video posted on Youtube titled “Do What Makes You Happy:”

Dalis starts off by explaining that there was “a lot of talk and gossip lately about whether or not I got a breast augmentation, and I’m here to tell you that I did. I went from an A cup to a B cup,” she reveals.

“I really just did this for myself,” she continues. “I don’t normally encourage plastic surgery because I truly believe that everyone should embrace their own natural beauty, but this is something that I’ve been insecure about since the seventh grade when all the girls were developing and I was still over here able to take off my shirt, run around with the guys — which I was probably still able to do up until about four weeks ago.”

For anyone that has seen photos of Dalis from four weeks ago — or even three years ago – you know she’s just exaggerating to be funny. To illustrate my point, as well as illustrate the difference in her appearance since having breast augmentation surgery, here are photos of Dalis Connell before and after (or actually, after and before) she had breast implants:

“I know there’s going to be a lot of people that have negative things to say,” Dalis says in the clip, “but honestly, they’re not the ones that have to live with my insecurities and look in the mirror everyday and not be satisfied.”

She then confesses, “This is the first time in my life I’m truly satisfied with the way that I look, and I believe that everyone should be able to say that, regardless of what it takes — whether it’s exercising, eating clean, diet, you know, whatever.”

Although Dalis is a true believer in eating right and working out, she admits they have their limitations. “I can’t just go to the gym and get boobs,” she says. “I can get chest muscles, but they’re not the [feminine?] boobs that I’ve always wanted.”

Dalis offers up her appreciation for those who have supported her by saying “thank you to all my close friends and family that agree with my decision and encouraged me to do this because that are happy to see that I’m actually doing something to make myself happy rather than doing things to make other people happy.”

And what about the “haters?” “My message to all the people that disagree: whatever makes you happy, do it regardless of what the world thinks. You’re the one that’s living your life, and you should be able to live it however you want in any way that makes you happy. You should never go through your life miserable. You live once, so make the best of it.”

Dalis further explained her take on dealing with negativity in a lengthy post on her blog. Here is most of what she had to say on the matter:

People always wonder why I even pay attention to the negativity I get. I honestly don’t pay attention to it because it bothers “me”, I pay attention to it because I know I am not the only person in the world that gets it. If I wasn’t secure about myself, these comments some people make.. would truly hurt me. I know that many people struggle with being truly secure with themselves because I at one point in my life, struggled.

I bring awareness to it because I want you all to know the importance of not letting other people’s opinions get to you. Most of us do not think deeply about why people act the way they do. Everyone was grown up in a different home, different environment, around different personalities, loved differently, etc. That means we will all have different opinions. Everyone will not see the beauty in the same things. What is beautiful to you, might not be beautiful to someone else. That is just the way it is. But the people who have insecurities, will be the people to voice the negative things about others. They try to avoid their own insecurities and make themselves feel better by trying to make someone else feel as if they are not worthy. That’s when you have to take a step back and realize that you are NOT the one with a problem, they are. They have something emotionally draining going on deep down inside them that no one else can see. They may act as if they are completely secure with themselves, but I can promise you that if they were secure with themselves, they would not try to make you feel bad about yourself.

My message to people is to never retaliate in a negative way to that person. There is no need to fuel the burning that is already happening in their soul.

We all need to realize that we are all different. Our differences are what make us absolutely beautiful. We all bring different talents & personalities to this world. The people that really matter, are the ones who appreciate your talents and personality. Instead of wishing you were different, embrace what makes you.. YOU. The right people will fall in love with it!

You are beautiful just the way you are. Be yourself. Never go through life pretending to be someone else. In the long run you will wish you were “yourself” the entire time. If you pretend to be someone else, you will be surrounded with people who don’t truly love you for the REAL you. I can assure you that you don’t want those people in your life. You want the people who love all your quirks, flaws, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Keeping those people around and loving yourself completely, will make for a happy life.

Work on loving yourself. I promise you it is worth it. YOU ARE WORTH IT.
