It was devastating when Sybil and Matthew Crawley were killed off of Downton Abbey during Season 3, but the character departing (but not dying) in Season 4 will probably leave a much bigger hole!

Siobhan Finneran (what a great name!) who plays O’Brien told The Daily Mail that she wouldn’t be coming back for Season 4. “I’m not doing any more. O’Brien is a thoroughly despicable human being – that was great to play.”
Since she isn’t being killed off (according to the show’s reps,) there’s still a chance for Sarah O’Brien to return.
Siobhan also has a role on the BBC’s The Syndicate, and the rest of the cast are already filming the new season, but that won’t be shown in the U.S. until 2014.
We’ll miss your curled bangs the most, O’Brien, but we’ll also miss your dastardly ways.
