Alec Baldwin has homophobic Twitter meltdown after wife accused of tweeting during Gandolfini funeral

Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria Baldwin attended the funeral service for James Gandolfini yesterday. While they were among those people gathered to mourn and pay their respects, Hilaria’s Twitter account appeared to remain active and a journalist with UK’s Daily Mail posted an article about it.

When Alec caught wind of the report he lost his Twitter mind and went off the rails on the writer of the piece, using several gay slurs while doing so. After stating that he had fired his publicist he deleted his Twitter account. During the time of the service it appeared as if tweets were sent from Hilaria’s account asking for wedding anniversary ideas and retweeting Rachel Ray about her scheduled appearance on the host’s show.

A source close to Hilaria insists that she was simply updating tweets later that had been tweeted during the service. Now there’s all kinds of arguments circulating about time stamp accuracy on tweets, especially when something is retweeted. She later wrote, “FYI I don’t believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would.”

Here was Baldwin’s assault on the reporter (edited for content):

While Baldwin raged that he had fired his publicist, Matthew Hiltzik – – who is still employed as Baldwin’s publicist – – said, “It is disgraceful that this reporter manufactured a story and never called for comment or explanation — especially when it needlessly diverted attention away from a day to honor the memory of a beloved figure like Mr Gandolfini.”
