15 Seewalds and Counting? Jessa and Ben gush over dreams of their own huge family
Jessa and Ben Seewald are currently over the moon with love for their little Spurgeon–so much so that they’re actively dreaming about developing their own little family empire. The Duggar-based couple recently explored the idea on TLC’s Jill & Jessa: Counting On special, and both seemed to agree that 15 children (or, more specifically, 15 sons) sounds like a good, satisfying number.
In fact, while it was Anna and Josh Duggar’s ongoing drama that got most of the Jill & Jessa attention, and the Duggar family fighting about Anna’s participation that wound up with most of the off-camera headlines, the Jessa and Ben Seewald future family discussion hardly drew any notice. In light of the family’s many recent controversies, though, their statements are getting put through the social media wringer–particularly in light of Duggar patriarch Jim Bob Duggar announcing that he and his wife plan to adopt at least one child in 2016.
That’s right: While the Duggars may be off the air for the foreseeable future, they plan to make it 20 Kids and Counting this year. And Jessa and Ben Seewald aim to keep up as best they can. Ben surprised Jessa with the news that he sees “fifteen sons” in their future; their first, Spurgeon, was born last November fifth.
Jessa, always game for a challenge, expressed her own happiness at the thought in a later Jill & Jessa segment. “I think it’d be awesome,” said Jessa. “I’d love to have 15 sons.” Later, during a talk on methods of labor induction, Jessa seemed to be thinking about family expansion as well: “If you’re going to try to have a baby,” she said, while taking an Arkansas power walk, “just do it. I mean, don’t mosey on down the trail at a snail’s pace. Power walk it.”
Jill then joked about how many children Jessa and Ben Seewald would have if they had accompanied she and her husband Derick on their recent Central American mission trip. Laughed Jill, “They’d be like, ‘We’ll take that one and that one and that one! We’ll take ’em all!'”
Neither Jessa nor Ben discussed the number of daughters they would like.
