MUG SHOT Toya Wright’s ex Memphitz arrested on drug charges

Toya Wright's ex Memphitz arrest mug shot 2017

Toya Wright’s music producer ex Memphitz is behind bars in Texas after being arrested and charged on four separate drug counts.

According to online records, Memphitz (real name Mickey Wright) was booked on March 14 at 6:43 AM and he is currently still behind bars with his total bond set at $54,500.00. Here are the four charges, with the top one looking to be the most serious and carrying the lion’s share of Memphitz’ sizeable bond amount:

Charge 1: Possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, under 1 gram
Bond: $50,000.00

Charge 2: Possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 3, under 28 grams
Bond: $1,500

Charge 3: Possession of a dangerous drug
Bond: $1,500

Charge 4: Possession of marijuana, under 2 ounces
Bond: $1,500

If you’re curious about the “penalty groups” mentioned above, I did a little research and found this info from “A Quick Guide to Texas Drug Possession Charges:”

Penalty Groups
Drugs are classified into penalty groups and there is a special group for marijuana. Though this isn’t a complete list, it should give you a good idea… and you can click on the link for a complete list of each penalty group:

Penalty Group 1: Cocaine, Heroine, Methamphetamine, Ketamine, Oxycodone and Hydrocodone (over 300 mg).

Penalty Group 1a: LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide).

Penalty Group 2: Ecstasy, PCP (Phencyclidine), Mescaline, Marinol,

Penalty Group 3: Valium, Xanex, Ritalin, and Hydrocodone (less than 300 mg.)

Penalty Group 4: Dionine (morphine), Motofen, Buprenorphine (an opioid), and Pyrovalerone.

The site indicates that Memphitz’ first charge of possession of less than 1 gram from penalty group 1 is classified as a “State Jail Felony,” which carries a penalty of a “fine not to exceed $10,000 and confinement in state jail institution for no less than 180 days and no more than 2 years.”

So if he isn’t able to reduce that charge with a plea deal or something, Memphitz is looking at three months in prison at least — not taking into account the other drug charges on top of it. That does not sound good.

Memphitz made headlines when he sued his ex, Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star K. Michelle, for defamation after she revealed on air that a former boyfriend physically abused her and spent her money while they were together. The lawsuit would later be tossed after he admitted to assaulting K. in a Memphis hotel in 2009. The two would later make peace.

Memphitz also appeared with his wife, and mother of Lil Wayne’s child, Toya Wright on the reality series Toya: A Family Affair. The two would later try to salvage their relationship with an appearance on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. That didn’t work.

Here are their WEtv bios:

TOYA WRIGHT
Toya starred in the hit series called Tiny and Toya as well as the docu-series Toya: A Family Affair. Since she’s been in the spotlight, Toya has made a name for herself as an author, designer and theatre actress. Her first book, Priceless Inspirations made her a NY Times best-selling author and she released her second novel, How to Lose a Husband earlier this year. She currently runs The Garb Boutique in Atlanta along with The Garb Shoetique in New Orleans and recently made her acting debut in the stage play Love Don’t Pay the Bills.

MEMPHITZ
Mickey “Memphitz” Wright is best known for his contributions to the hip hop industry. At an early age, Mickey was mentored by entertainment and music legends LA Reid, Jermaine Dupri, Mark Pitts and Sean “DIDDY” Combs which kick-started his career. As one of the youngest music executives of Arista/Jive Records, Mickey is responsible for bringing artists such as T-Pain, YoungBloodZ and K. Michelle to the forefront of the music scene. Mickey is currently pursuing a variety of business opportunities that include DJ’ing as well as stepping into the photography world.
