Someone is catfishing folks as Catfish host Nev Schulman

Nev Schulman Catfish texts and DMs

And in “ironic things I’m surprised didn’t happen sooner” news, Catfish host Nev Schulman sent out a warning via social media earlier today to make people aware that someone is catfishing folks pretending to be Nev Schulman!

Here’s the Facebook message from Nev followed by a screen cap of the text messages people have been receiving from a person claiming to be him:

ATTENTION! For the past 2 weeks I have been getting lots of tweets and DM’s from people who have received a text message from someone pretending to be me. Ironic, isn’t it? Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know it isn’t me texting you (sorry) and that you should watch out and probably best to delete/block the number. #DontSendNudes

So be sure to ask for proof y’all! And if you’re skyping with Nev (or Max) and things still seem a bit off, make sure they’re not wearing one of these clever costumes I spotted late last year:

In other Catfish news, Nev Schulman revealed this weekend that they will begin filming Season 6 of Catfish: The TV Show next month! Here’s his tweet with a link for casting:

Meanwhile, Catfish Season 5 is set to premiere Wednesday, August 10 at 10/9c on MTV. Click here to watch the trailer!

    Catfish has lost its appeal

I agree. I’d DVR’ed this whole past season and recently, just deleted it all without even watching more than 1 episode.

You can only handle so much of the exact same shit. It’s like a John Saul novel. Read a few and you get the gist of how they’re all gonna end up.

Ok Neev and Max. Wrap up the series by making this your final Catfish. Find out who did this and walk off into the sunset.

      Yes! That would be perfect!!

They lost what little cred they had with the “psychic” episode – the chick was clearly a fake yet they wrapped up the episode all nice like “well it seems your dead father really WAS contacting you.” I felt so badly for the girl – she wanted to believe but you could tell her gut was telling her this “psychic” got her info from somewhere and NOT the other side.
