Little Tikes bounce house blows away with 3 children inside

In a horrifying mash-up of Balloon Boy and Pixar’s Up movie, a Little Tikes bounce house that was staked to the ground at an apartment building in South Glens Falls, New York was lifted off the ground and blown high into the air with three children inside!

According to the Post-Star, 2 boys ages 5 and 6 were tossed from the inflatable from approximately fifteen feet high. “One of the boys landed on a parked car after he was tossed out of the toy,” the site reports, “while the other landed on asphalt when the incident happened around 3:20 p.m. off Ferry Boulevard.”

Both boys were taken to Albany Medical Center and treated for serious injuries. One neighbor tells the site that the 6-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury while the younger, 5-year-old boy was treated for facial injuries and 2 broken arms.

The third child in the toy at the time, a 10-year-old girl, reportedly received only minor scrapes after she was tossed out soon after the house became airborne.

Police say the Little Tikes bounce house was blown more than 50 feet into the air and over a large wooded area before landing in a field behind a middle school. “It was like a horror movie,” said Taylor Seymour, who resides in the apartment complex where the bounce house was first located and whose car one of the boys landed on. “It just kept going up and up. It cleared our building and the trees.”

“The witnesses said it was a sudden burst of wind and it just lifted off the ground,” South Glens Falls Police Patrolman David Gifford said. “It was just a freak accident.”

I’ve been worried about someone with a bounce house out on a really windy day before. It seemed like a crazy thing to do with wind gusts like that. I hope the children are all okay. :(
