Colts owner Jim Irsay arrested for DUI, possession charges

Jim Irsay MUGSHOT

Maybe the Indianapolis Colts faithful are taking Peyton Manning’s success harder than we even imagined.

Outspoken owner Jim Irsay was arrested late last night in Carmel, Indiana.

He was booked around 3 AM local time and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $22,500.

Irsay was 12 when his daddy bought the then Baltimore Colts. After graduating from SMU in 1982, he went to work for his father and has since climbed the ranks and is now owner of one of the winningest franchises in the NFL.

Irsay spent a month-long stay in rehab in 2002 for a decades-long addiction to prescription painkillers.

Irsay is an outspoken Twitter user but hasn’t addressed his arrest as of this post.

You often hear folks wonder why players in professional sports don’t just hire drivers when DUI after DUI appear on the news wire. If Irsay is guilty of the charges, I would say it’s more than fair that the same argument apply to him as well.
