Forget congestion and traffic jams, the number one traffic safety concern in Atlanta, Georgia is apparently the Camaro-hating duo of Bobbi Kristina Brown and her adopted brother/(former?) fiance Nick Gordon! In addition to smashing up three of the Chevy sports cars in the last three months, including Bobbi driving her car off a rather sizable embankment near their apartment complex in Alpharetta just yesterday, Nick Gordon was arrested just hours later for speeding! So why did he get arrested instead of just getting ticketed? Because he was going more than 45 miles per hour over the speed limit! The 23-year-old was clocked at 82 mph in a 35 mph zone in a commercial section of Alpharetta. Nick Gordon? More like Jeff Gordon!
George Gordon (no relation), the Executive Officer and PIO for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon (no relation) issued this statement to The Atlanta Journal and Constitution:
“Last night around 6:39 p.m., an Alpharetta Department of Public Safety police officer assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit was operating a laser speed detection device on North Point Parkway in the city of Alpharetta. The North Point Parkway is an affluent corridor of medium to high end retail stores, malls and numerous dinning venues. The officer observed a gray Chevrolet Camaro traveling at a very high rate of speed. The officer used his laser speed detection device and obtained a tracking speed against the Camaro at 82 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.”
This prompted action, Officer Gordon explained.
“The danger lies in the fact this is a high vehicular and pedestrian traffic area. In a situation such as this, the department has a duty to take reasonable enforcement action to protect the public,” he said. “After intercepting the vehicle, the officer conducted a traffic stop against the vehicle. The driver identified as Nicholas David Gordon, male age 23, was arrested and subsequently cited for reckless driving and speeding. He was transported to the North Fulton Alpharetta jail Annex. An acquaintance of the arrestee was allowed to come to the scene and take custody of the vehicle.”
As you can tell from Nick Gordon’s mug shot above, he seemed none too worried about the arrest. Though Nick has been quiet on Twitter since the arrest, he did retweet a couple affirming comments from fans, including this one:
