Teen Mom star Amber Portwood had her plea deal accepted yesterday by Madison Circuit Court Judge David Happe which will allow her to enter a drug rehabilitation program in lieu of serving her five-year prison sentence for drug possession and violating her probation.
According to The Herald Bulletin Amber Portwood told the judge that she wanted her family back and wanted to remain drug free during her hearing. “I understand it’s going to be hard,” she said of the drug rehab program she will be attending in lieu of serving jail time, “but I have a lot to lose.”
The site also reveals that Amber intends to make good on her infamous laundry list of probation violations that included:
• Failure to complete 6 months of anger control evaluation and classes
• Failure to set up a $10,000 college fund for her daughter Leah
• Failure to obtain a GED
• Failure to pay probation fees of $56
• “Failure to behave well in society” (drinking too much and hitting a person at an IHOP in December)
Amber Portwood’s attorney Evan Broderick says that, as part of the plea deal, the $10,000 college trust fund will be set up once Amber is out of jail. Amber said she was already working towards getting her high school diploma at the time she was arrested and she will be paying her $56 in court fees once she is released.
From The Herald Bulletin:
Portwood told Happe she wants her life back and that she thinks about her daughter all the time, when before it was only the pills she thought of.
“I’m a better person when I’m off of them,” she said.
Bryan Williams, another attorney sitting with Amber and Broderick, says Amber had been very inquisitive about the rehab program. “We fully believe she understands what she’s up against …,” he said, “The reward is great if she can do it.”

Good luck Amber! Just remember, Leah needs you!
Goodluck!
Let’s hope she does it. Leah deserve a “good mom”.
I wish her all the best. Good luck!
Good for her. I hope rehab let’s her heal a little bit. I know she’s spoken a little bit about not having the best upbringing and is very hurt about her sister’s sudden death as a baby. Hopefully they’ll help her cope better.
good luck
Hah, yeah, heard her say she wants all those things before … we’ll see how it turns out.
I hope for Leah’s sake, Amber gets her act together. The odds are staked high against her. She’s been through all of this before and hasn’t learned. Maybe the harsh punishment would have done her some good. Being locked up for real and not just given a slap on the risk will sometimes reinforce the reality and severity of the situation. I wonder had she not been a reality tv personality (wouldn’t call her a celebrity) would she have been give the option she took over the 5 yr sentence? Also I wonder if any of this latest mess will be chronicled in a future Teen Mom season?
And a slap on the wrist too! YEAH!
I want to thank everyone for the good luck and best wishes to Amber.
Wish Leah and Amber, and the whole family the best!
Pretty funny seeing as how you denied all of her violations and insisted that Amber already had a huge fund set up for leah on your blog and in comment sections of news blogs.
lol…
There is no doubt in my mind, that Amber Portwood will not do the work required to complete the Madison County Drug Court Program. None. They will not put up with her excuses, nor put up with her lies.
OMG! All that time in jail took the color right off her.
god she looks hideous in that picture….and look!! she can actually open her eyes!!! imagine that…hope Leah is well taken care of and if Amber can stay clean then good for her, but i wouldnt hold my breath….i really feel for Leah tho…worthless mom & dad who cant stay away from worthless mom…hope things can get batter for all involved….
This girl pisses me off. And before I get a bunch of dumb people telling me to stop being a hater, I am NOT being a hater. I supported her in the begining but recently she has just been begining to piss me off. She claims to want her family back..how many times has she said that, and then fallen right back into the same routine? Leah deserves better than Amber. I’m sorry. I hope Amber reamains on the right track, but I don’t think she should have any parental rights to Leah. MAYBE supervised visits, Gary is doing a great job with Leah on his own.
