Who is the Artiaga family from The CW’s Famous in 12?

This summer, The CW and TMZ’s Harvey Levin are launching an original social experiment that will follow one fame-hungry family around the clock for 12 straight weeks. Along the way, they will all be presented with opportunities that could help them achieve their dreams — or lead to them falling flat. And to up the ante even more, the family members will compete against each other in weekly “fame campaigns” to determine who really has the most star power.

“We wanted to take a family that had no connection whatsoever to Hollywood and use the principles we’ve seen over the last nine years and see if they can pull it off. I don’t know if they will or won’t,” Harvey Levin told The AP. “[We will] give them a road map on where to go, ideas, what to do, but they have to make their own luck.”

So, just who is the potentially talented family vying for celebrity in Famous in 12? Meet the Artiagas of Hollywood…

Mike Artiaga Sr., aka The DJ, is an aspiring DJ who also goes by DJ Mike Starr.

Angie Artiaga, aka The Writer, is a sex and relationships columnist.

Taliah Artiaga, aka The Dancer.

Jameelah Artiaga, aka The Model.

Maariyah Artiaga, aka The Singer.

(Brother Mike Artiaga Jr. and sister Aaminah Artiaga also seem to be affiliated with the show, even though they weren’t mentioned into the promo.)

As for whether any of the Artiagas have the talent to succeed in their ambitious quest, Harvey seemed uncertain.

“I don’t think any of them can make it on their talent but they can certainly make it off of their will, and they have so much will and ambition,” he said. “And they’re game to scheme and that’s what it takes. We’re going to see whether the scheming works.”
