VIDEO Watch the Today Show interview with White House Crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi

Tareq Salahi and Michaele Salahi

The infamous “White House crashers” Tareq Salahi and Michaele Salahi were interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning just after canceling their Larry King Live appearance among rumors that they were looking for a six-digit appearance fee. The couple claims they were not shopping themselves to television stations and they were in fact invited to the White House State Dinner. The Secret Service is currently investigating the notorious duo and the Salahis say they are cooperating fully in their investigation.

The first interview is brief and focuses on the Salahi’s experiences since the incident:

The second interview goes into a little more detail about the investigation and incidents surrounding the White House Dinner:

Our country is founded on the presumption that people are innocent until proven guilty but I get the impression that if this couple had a son his nickname would be Balloon Boy. I’m going to start calling the Salahis “Speidi 2,” and for those of you fortunate enough to not know what that is in reference to – no it’s not a Spider-Man sequel but an homage to the infamous fame mongers Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

Speidi 2 has a laundry list of similar stunts and Matt Lauer even shows photographs of them at one of the Congressional Black Caucuses, which some reports say they were escorted out of. There’s just too much smoke here for there not to be a fire. Maybe their motivations were innocent enough, but I think that no matter how cooperative they are they’re going to have a hard time avoiding some serious trouble as the Secret Service will try to save some face by using them as an example.
