VIDEO Toronto mayor Rob Ford smoked crack recently, refuses to resign
Toronto mayor Rob Ford said during a press conference on Tuesday the smoked crack “probably a year ago.” This admission comes after months of accusations about Rob’s personal life. The embattled mayor added he will not resign from office.
“Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine,” he said.. “There have been times when I’ve been in a drunken stupor. That’s why I want to see the tape. I want everyone in the city to see this tape. I don’t even recall there being a tape or video. I want to see the state that I was in.”
Reports began circulating in May that Rob was filmed smoking crack cocaine while on an alcohol bender. Toronto police recently said they obtained a copy of the tape, but will not show it to Mayor Ford because it’s evidence in an active investigation.
Doug Ford, a Toronto councillor and Rob’s brother, said that’s just a convenient excuse for the the Police Chief Bill Blair’s personal bias. Doug also called out the police chief for saying he was “disappointed” in the behavior Rob displayed in the cellphone video.
“We have the most political police chief we have ever seen,” Doug told reporters before his brother’s press conference. “The police chief believes he’s the judge, the jury and the executioner.”
Rob became mayor of Canada’s most populous city in 2010. His tenure has been tainted by dozens of controversies.
