VIDEO PHOTOS Lady Gaga performs ‘Speechless’ at MOCA’s 30th Anniversary Gala
Lady Gaga was the perfect choice to play the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art’s 30th Anniversary Gala November 14, 2009. She looked like a Wastepaper Fairy in her silver and white dress and mammoth crumpled headgear – something seemingly sprung to life from the surface of a modern art canvas:
Completing the avant-garde look was a Batman villain-esque swirl on the front of her gown and make-up that included Lady Gaga’s patented perma-pucker lip treatment and Ike Turner bride eyes.
Her actual performance took place behind a pink grand piano decorated with bright blue butterflies – some sort of girlish sculptural descendant of Joan Miró:
Here’s the actual video of her performance of “Speechless” shot by an audience member. You can’t see Lady Gaga too well, but you do get a good idea of the wonderful spectacle of it all! On stage with LG during the performance is the Russian Ballet and artist Francesco Vezzoli:
Here is Lagy GaGauguin with Vezzoli before she changed into her stage costume:
And one last, parting shot of the Wastepaper Faerie:
The MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala was jam-packed with all sorts of hip folks! I’ll try to put together a red carpet post with photos of the best of the fine art-supportin’ celebs, so stay tuned!
