VIDEO Mother arrested for allegedly taking 5-year-old daughter into a tanning bed
I apologize for scaring the crap out of you but that lady is one Patricia Krentcil of Nutley, N.J. and she was arrested for allegedly taking her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning bed.
The 144 44-year-old mom was charged with second-degree child endangerment but is claiming that the whole ordeal is a big misunderstanding. She told NBC 4 out of New York that her daughter wasn’t exposed to the tanning booth’s UV rays but instead got sunburned while playing outside on a hot day.
Here is a video interview with Patricia as she tells her side of the story.
The father of the young girl in question said his daughter told friends at school that she “went tanning with Mommy.” He believes a teacher overheard and falsely connected the girl’s sunburn to mom’s tan run and called the cops.
“This whole big thing happened, and everyone got involved. It was 85 degrees outside, she got sunburned. That’s it. That’s all that happened.”
Tan runs are just an average trip for mom and she usually takes her daughter along but she insists that her little one is never exposed to the tanning lights. Patricia has been frequenting her area tanning salon for over a decade now (you wouldn’t say) and can’t understand why it’s all the sudden a big deal now.
It’s against the law in Jersey for kids under 14 to do what Patricia does too much of, which would be indoor tanning. She was released on $25,000 bail and has a court appearance today in which she looks to tell her side of the story.
Her super-cute little daughter shows no signs of the overexposure now and is doing fine thankfully. Guilty or not, would someone please tell Patricia to keep the heck away from The Tropics tanning salon!
