Country singer Mindy McCready’s boyfriend and the father of her youngest son Zayne was found dead of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this month in Arkansas.
David Wilson (photo above) was found on the front porch of his home in Heber Springs on January 13, and while it was first reported as a suicide, rumors quickly surfaced that he had been having an affair, and that his death could have actually been at the hands of Mindy herself.
The investigation into Wilson’s death is ongoing, with crime lab results from the scene expected back in a couple weeks. Although Mindy McCready is not an official suspect in the investigation (there are no official suspects at this point), the open case and the affair rumors have led to a lot of negative speculation. Mindy is set to speak out for the first time in an upcoming episode of Dateline, and NBC aired some excerpts from that interview this morning ont the Today Show. In the interview, Mindy addressed David Wilson’s tragic passing and was forced to answer a couple of tough questions.
When asked if she had anything to do with David’s death, Mindy responded by saying, “Oh my God, no. Oh my God, no. He was my life. We were each other’s life.” And as for the alleged affair, she added, “David was not having an affair with another woman. That is absolutely totally untrue.”
However, Mindy hasn’t ruled out murder as a possibility. When asked if she was 100% sure that David committed suicide and hadn’t been killed, she was silent for a moment and then said, “I don’t know.”
“I’ve never gone through anything this painful,” Mindy explained to host Andrea Canning. “He didn’t just touch my heart, he touched my soul.”
