Toddlers and Tiaras mom Lindsay Jackson might lose custody of daughter over Dolly Parton costume
Backlash over some of the more controversial Toddlers & Tiaras costumes just got personal!
Mom Lindsay Jackson, who’s dressed her daughter Maddy Verst up as Dolly Parton (including breast and butt padding) and a sexy cop, is being challenged by Maddy’s father for custody of the five-year-old little girl.
Bill Verst even had a psychologist write up a 3,000 word report recommending to “maintain a temporary joint custodial arrangement, with Bill as primary residential custodian,” citing the sexy costumes.
“I’ve done nothing wrong, by way of being a mother, I’m a great mother. Because I participate in pageants with my daughter is not a reason to take my child from me. Pageants have never been challenged, they’re not illegal. I’m not doing anything illegal with my kid.”
“Obviously, if I had know that this Dolly thing was going to be an issue, I wouldn’t have done it, especially on national TV. I never intended for it to be a negative costume – it was costume designed to represent our state. Dolly’s from Tennessee, so that’s what I did. As far as the police outfit goes, it’s nothing more than a pair of shorts and a shirt that says, ‘Bad cop, no donut’ on the back. You can buy it for retail as a Halloween costume – and it’s more revealing than what Madisyn was wearing. That outfit was never intended on being sexualized. (The court-appointed psychologist) thinks it is, but that’s a matter of opinion.”
Jackson is also worried that the case might be settled in their small community, where her ex-husband has a lot of pull.
Controversy over the way Lindsay Jackson dressed Maddy for pageants landed Maddy on the cover of People magazine last year with the headline “Gone Too Far?”
Do you think Bill has grounds to get full custody of Maddy over this pageant stuff?
