Two women behind two of the smartest comedies on television ever are going to host The Golden Globes next year!
Ricky Gervais hosted The Globes for three years, and incited a lot of controversy with his scathing jokes ripped straight from pop culture headlines.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are some of my favorite people, and they’re good friends, and hilarious, so all those things will probably come together to make for a watchable awards shows. (Let’s face it, those things are tedious.)
The Oscars chose the irreverent Family Guy and Ted creator Seth MacFarlane to master their ceremonies, which feels like they’ve finally taken a hint from Ricky Gervais’ run with The Globes.
HFPA president Aida Takla-O’Reilly said in a statement:
“The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune in to see them in action. The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary!”
“Unparalleled comedic timing” is exactly right. When are these girls gonna star in another movie together?
