Should Bravo completely recast The Real Housewives of New York City?
The Real Housewives of New York City have been in hiatus for nearly a year now and they still haven’t even begun to film the upcoming sixth season of the show. Earlier this year it was reported that the ladies’ contracts had yet to be signed, which caused the start date to be pushed back several weeks. Then, cast members claimed filming was post-poned until spring so that their wardrobes would be more appealing. So, what’s the truth? Apparently, Bravo is considering re-casting the whole show!
Next week, the NBC Universal Upfronts are scheduled to take place, and so far none of the NY ladies have been invited. The Upfronts are where the networks in the NBC family preview their upcoming fall and midseason series, and the stars of the shows are nearly always in attendance.
“None of the New York housewives are going to the Bravo upfronts on April 3rd. When I called 1 of them to see if they were going she said ‘what up front?'” Tom Murro reveals to Reality Tea. The Real Housewives of New Jersey, on the other hand, will be in attendance. That cast has been filming its upcoming season for months now and is very much a sure thing. The same can’t be said for New York.
After booting Alex McCord, Jill Zarin, and Kelly Bensimon, The Real Housewives of New York City‘s fifth season saw an overall ratings drop of over 21% from season 4, so it’s no surprise that producers are planning on a change. But would they really go for a full reboot?
Just weeks ago, Sonja Morgan made waves when she revealed that she thought LuAnn de Lesseps and Heather Thomson would be getting the boot, but other sources quickly responded claiming that LuAnn has already been confirmed. No one really seems to know what’s going on.
What do you think? Should Bravo make the bold move of starting from scratch with an entirely new batch of Big Apple housewives?
