23-year-old singer Alexa Ray Joel, daughter or Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, was rushed to the hospital after an overdose. Police are ruling the incident as a suicide attempt.
Alexa’s roommate called 911 and paramedics were dispatched to her Manhattan home around 12:21 p.m. Saturday, according to the NY Post. Sources told WABC-TV New York that she was suicidal after a recent breakup with her boyfriend, and took an unknown amount of sleeping pills.
Her publicist Claire Mercuri confirmed she was in the hospital, but is currently stable with this statement:
“Alexa is stable. Her doctors are assessing her needs and that’s all we can say at this moment.”
