PHOTOS Madonna wows in butterfly dress at “W.E.” Venice Film Festival Premiere
The film W.E. had it’s World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier today and director Madonna was on hand for the occasion looking downright ravishing in a sheer lavender dress adorned with hundreds of little red butterflies.
The Queen of Pop seemed to turn back the clock almost three decades with a retro-glam blond hairdo and a pair of She’s So Unusualesque red sunglasses. But perhaps the most remarkable thing about Madonna’s look on the red carpet is that she looked downright gleeful!

And just so you know what Madonna looks like coming and going, here’s a view of her Madonkadonk. (Would those be BUTTerflies then?)

As I mentioned, Madonna is the director of W.E., a film about Wally Winthrop (played by Abbie Cornish) and Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough), two women who lived nearly six decades apart but whose stories are connected through Winthrop’s research into Simpson’s relationship with King Edward VIII (James D’Arcy). W.E. will also show at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival in September before hitting US theaters on December 9, 2011.
Here is a group photo of the cast in attendance at the 2011 Venice Film Festival along with Madonna.
