PHOTOS Josh Hutcherson is NOT the new Spider-Man
Ever since it was announced the Spider-Man movie franchise would get a complete reboot – after director Sam Raimi’s displeasure with the Spider-Man 4 script could not be appeased – the rumor mill has been churning out likely web-slinging replacements but according to Blue Sky Disney, Sony has settled on Josh Hutcherson.
NOT! (Updated 7-2-2010) It seems ol’ Blue Sky Disney got it wrong. It was announced today that the new Spider-Man is relative unknown Andrew Garfield. That being said, if you are Josh Hutcherson feel free to continue reading this article and dreaming about what could have been…
Word from my Bothans is that Sony has settled on Journey to the Center of the Earth‘s Josh Hutcherson as the newly, high school bound Peter Parker. After several extensive test shoots were performed, Marc Webb and the top Sony $uits decided that Hutcherson was the right fit for the role and an offer was made and has been accepted. Now I wonder who’ll be cast as the Lizard?
Hutcherson talked with ComingSoon.net about his excitement at being considered for the role:
“I think a lot of people are auditioning and talking about it, so it’s an honor to be considered on the same list with some of these actors that I’m up against. It’s really cool. To be talked about in that kind of role is very awesome.”
“I really don’t know what’s going on with everything right now,” he told us when asked if he was still in the running. “It would be an honor to play that role, it’s a big thing, it’s a total game changer. I really want to play a comic book hero. I’m not really huge into comics, but I’ve always been big into superheroes from the cartoons and the movies that have been made about them.”
We kind of knew the answer but we had to Hutcherson if he had a chance to read any of the script before or during his audition, to which he replied, “No, they won’t let anybody read that. They have it in a safe inside a vault inside some secret Fort Knox location.”
Hutcherson is a 17-year old born in Union, Kentucky most famous for his role in Journey to the Center of the Earth in 2008. Also on the busy young actors resume are Bridge to Terabithia, Zathura: A Space Adventure and 2010’s The Kids Are All Right.
Here are a bunch of photos of Josh Hutcherson from the last few years. I’ve been trying to imagine him hanging upside down kissing Kirsten Dunst… Yeah, I guess he’ll work.
