PHOTOS Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter, Emma Ferrer, covers Harper’s Bazaar

The September 2014 cover girl for Harper’s Bazaar has an unfamiliar face and name. But, chances are you know Emma Ferrer’s grandmother, Audrey Hepburn.

Emma, 20, never met her paternal grandmother, who died in January 1993 from a rare form of abdominal cancer.

“I’ve been questioning a lot lately what she means to me. I knew her image, of course, and that I happened to be, by pure chance, related to her. But as a child I couldn’t really relate to Audrey Hepburn, the actress,” explained Emma, who was born in Switzerland and raised in Los Angeles. “To me, she was family. I can live with her through my father. His stories are all about his growing up. But honestly, I haven’t seen all of her movies.”

Like her grandmother, Emma studied ballet until she grew too tall. The Harper’s Bazaar cover is her very first modeling gig, even though Emma said she’s more interested in becoming an artist than a model or actress. She currently studies at the Florence Academy of Art and plans to continue her coursework at the Academy’s soon-to-open Jersey City branch.
