With cancer in their rearview mirror, The Little Couple‘s Jennifer Arnold and Bill Klein are finally able to enjoy parenting Will and their newly adopted daughter Zoey.
“She is a very strong personality. She is a happy girl,” Jennifer told People of her daughter, whom she and Bill adopted from India. The proud parents also shared the first official photo of two-year-old Zoey.
After a few setbacks, Jennifer and Bill finalized Zoey’s adoption last October. Similar to her parents and older brother, Zoey has a form of dwarfism.
“Our hearts have grown in the past six months as new parents to William,” the couple said in a statement last fall. “We are excited and overjoyed to welcome Zoey to our family and watch Will becoming a loving big brother.”
Two months later, Jennifer and Bill revealed their journey to India was bittersweet: She began bleeding heavily and had to return to Houston earlier than expected.
“My initial thoughts were all about Zoey,” Jen said in December. “But then the bleeding got worse and I was feeling light-headed. It was a hard decision, but I had to go home.”
Jen was then diagnosed with stage 3 choriocarcinoma, which began with a non-viable pregnancy. She later said her husband and children gave her the strength to fight — which helped her go into remission earlier this year.
“Enjoying watching my children play was a huge, uplifting part of my treatment,” Jen said. “With kids running around, you don’t have much time to feel sorry for yourself.”
She added the experience helped her find joy in the little things.
“Zoey loves riding on cars and Will loves pushing her around,” Jen said. “It is the cutest thing ever.”
The new season of TLC’s The Little Couple premieres on March 4 at 10/9c. It documents the family’s trip to India, Jen’s struggle with cancer and their experiences as a family of four.
