The Los Angeles Lakers swept the Utah Jazz out of the Western Conference playoff race last night in the NBA but the big story on the message boards and talk shows were the two side-by-side t-shirts worn by the Jazz fans that you see above.  What the shirts are referring to is LA Laker guard Derek Fisher who walked away from his Utah Jazz contract stating that he needed specific care from a doctor outside of the Utah area to take care of his ill daughter.

Most people feel that the shirts were pretty classless and they’re probably right.  Even though Fisher in the process made it back to the team that he had won previous Championships with (The Lakers), and a hated rival of the Jazz, this is not a bluff you can call.  Fisher’s daughter suffered from a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma so it would have been best to leave this alone.  Leave the conspiracy theories at the door on this one folks.

I am a rabid fan and catch myself stepping over the “bitter” line sometimes so lets just call this an overzealous mistake and move on.  What is really disturbing to me is it looks like these two girls are reality show wannabees and were maybe seeking out the attention.  Time will tell if this is the case.

What do you think about the ‘Derek Lied’ t-shirts?  Were they over the line or just hard-core fans expressing themselves?  And as a last thought the girl on the left kind of looks like Sarah Silverman for whatever that’s worth.
