One Direction’s Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson appear to be smoking pot in a five-minute clip obtained by The Daily Mail. In the video, narrated by Louis, the boy band stars comment on the illicit nature of their activity.
“So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days,” said Louis, 22. When passing by police officers, he added, “One nil bi**h! Look at this bi**h! He’s having a look. He’s thinking, ‘I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.’ And he’s hit the nail on the head!'”
Louis also commented that 21-year-old Zayn likes to have a “two-hour, intense warm-up before every show” with “Mary J.”
The video was shot in Lima shortly before One Direction’s sold-out April 27 concert. Members of the group’s entourage were in the car. Bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan were not present.
Daily Mail reported marijuana isn’t legal in Peru. However, possession isn’t punishable if an individual has less than 8 grams and intends to use it immediately.
A representative for One Direction told E! Online the band’s lawyers are addressing privately the matter. The group is scheduled to continue their world tour in the United States this summer. It’s possible (albeit unlikely) that the video could affect their entrance into the country: Fellow Brit Nigella Lawson was temporarily barred from entering the United States after admitting to drug use in a legal testimonial.
