VH1’s popular franchise Love and Hip Hop returns for a 3rd season on January 7 with a whole bunch of new faces. One of the cast member additions is rapper Joe Budden. Here’s Budden’s brief bio from the network:

Fierce free-styling artist Joe Budden is widely considered one of hip hop’s most gifted lyricists. His Grammy award-winning song “Pump It Up” was featured in the hit movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. This ladies’ man is also known for posting about his very public relationships and break-ups online.

Back in March of 2012, Budden got arrested in Times Square just before a show at the Best Buy Theater. Joe, part of Eminem’s rap group Slaughterhouse, was taken into custody on suspicion of smoking marijuana. The group went on to perform that evening sans Budden. During the show they announced that he’d been arrested, calling the cops’ actions, “ridiculous.” The 2,000 plus fans in attendance chanted, “Free Joe Budden.”

During the arrest they discovered an outstanding warrant for a 2007 violation for driving with a suspended license.

Budden was later released and was required to pay a $75 fine. Yep, dude got arrested and missed a gig over a fine under a $100.

The above mug comes from an earlier arrest for owing child support payments according to NJ.com. A warrant was issued in 2010 for Budden’s arrest as the authorities claimed he owed nearly $13,000 in arrears for child support. According to the report, Budden had been arrested for the same charge in 2009.
