MUG SHOT 91-year-old Florida man pulls gun on landscapers in argument over grass clippings
A 91-year-old Florida man has been arrested and charged with a variety of crimes after a spat over lawn clippings ended with the Florida man pulling a gun on his neighbor’s landscapers.
Florida man Max Horton, 91, of Avon Park, became enraged when, according to the arrest report, landscaper Robert Hendrix accidentally got some lawn clippings on Horton’s car.
Horton began arguing with Hendrix; the argument turned serious when the nonagenarian pulled a gun on Hendrix, ordered him to his knees, and told Hendrix he was going to kill him.
At that point, Johnny Barnes, the second member of the landscaping crew, “managed to intervene.” Horton got off a shot at Hendrix before turning to face Barnes; the two landscapers got the gun away from the Florida man, and held him until police arrived.
Before booking, Horton was taken to the hospital for treatment stemming from several injuries he sustained in the fracas. However, according to First Coast News, Horton could not be taken to the nearest hospital, since he has been banned from the facility after making threats to staff there in September of 2013. What sort of threats? Allegedly, Horton shouted at hospital staff that “he had a gun in his vehicle and [the staff] would be sorry if he went to get it.”
Horton is being held without bond on a first-degree attempted murder charge. No word on whether the landscapers took the rest of the day off.
