Luann de Lesseps Jokes ‘Not Drinking Is Exhausting’ ? during Cabaret show

Luann de Lesseps Debuts Broadway Show

Countess Luann de Lesseps has had a roller coaster year. Twelve months ago she was a newlywed, several months after that she was divorced and by New Year’s 2018, the Countess was in rehab after a very public drunken altercation that landed her in jail on Christmas. Now she’s out of in-patient treatment, singing again, and ready to joke about her alcohol and legal problems.

The 52-year-old Real Housewives of New York City star was on fire with her “#CountessAndFriends” cabaret show at New York City’s Feinstein’s/54 Below Tuesday night. She opened the show with Beatles classic “With a Little Help From My Friends” followed by a medley of her own pop hits.

“I had a list of songs but had to reconsider ‘Jailhouse Rock,’” she joked, referencing her drunken Christmas Eve arrest. She also quipped about her taxing new life of sobriety: “Not drinking is exhausting. Getting up at six and going to my meetings and to yoga and then filming Housewives. I’m dead by ten o’ clock I’m wiped out, I’m exhausted. And usually, I’m just starting at the Regency at that time.”

Luann also had some life advice that perhaps everyone should keep in mind in this age of smart phones: memorize the numbers of three people so you have someone to call if you ever end up in jail. When you’re behind bars you no longer have access to that magical slab of glass and metal that connects you to the outside world. Here’s an Instagram video of Luann dishing out this sage advice:

Her ex-boyfriend Jacques Azoulay attended the show with his girlfriend. Michelle Collins, Sonja Morgan and Kelly Bensimon were also there to show their support.
