In response to a local man’s incident with a bear, WJAR Providence, RI reporter Julie Tremmel made a hilarious segment where she acts out how to avoid a bear attack.
Tip #1: Avoid eye contact with the bear
Tip #2: Don’t run away, but instead back off slowly and wave your arms to let the animal know you’re human
Tip #3: Don’t yell and stay quiet unless the bear attacks, then scream and throw things
Tip #4: If the bear attacks curl up on your side or lay flat on your stomach
