There may soon be another factor to consider in the “LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan” debate: There seems to be a good chance that the Cavs player will star in the loooong anticipated Space Jam sequel.

There have been Space Jam 2: LeBron Saves the World (unofficial title) rumors for years, but his publicists always denied he was working with Warner Bros. Until today!

“LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment,” Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara said in a statement today. “The combination of LeBron’s global media presence and Warner Bros.’ unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere.”

Although they didn’t name any specific projects, Capital New York‘s Alex Weprin noted the company filed new Space Jam trademarks at the beginning of June.

Coincidence? I think not! Now, to get you really psyched…
