LeAnn Rimes prays daily for forgiveness over Eddie Cibrian affair
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian’s 2009 affair destroyed not one but two marriages. At the time, LeAnn was married to Dean Shermet and Eddie to Brandi Glanville. Years later, LeAnn is still dealing with the repercussions and because of that, she prays daily — and writes music.
In her upcoming album Spitfire, LeAnn is opening up about the affair and what really went on with her and Eddie in the beginning of their now four-year courtship. “People have had the lies to twist for so long, they can have the truth to twist now,” LeAnn says, adding that “there was something very freeing about” getting the past off her chest.
Earlier this year, Brandi released her side of the story via her first book, Drinking & Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders, and now, LeAnn is getting her turn. At the same time, she wants everyone to know that she is still sorry for the pain that her affair caused others.
“I’ve definitely asked for forgiveness … on a daily basis,” LeAnn told ET on Wednesday during her appearance. “We are human beings who are going to sin and make mistakes and if you have that connection, for me, is something that I feel is bigger than me, it’s not something that’s unusual to do.”
LeAnn says her new music will give her listeners a chance to be a “fly on the wall” in her relationship with Eddie — especially in the song Ruin Me in which she reveals the intense emotions she was feeling back when they first met. Below is a verse of the track:
No one loves me better
No one ever could
I wish someone would have warned me
That you would be so good
LeAnn admits that when she first told her husband about the song, he was a little worried. “His first words were, ‘Oh no’ … I was like, ‘Don’t worry, it’s all good.'”
LeAnn adds, “I feel like so many people have written the story that they think will sell a magazine, or the story that they want to believe, but it’s so 180 of what has been written.”
Spitfire hits stores on June 4.
