Kate Upton says her beauty was an inconvenience when growing up
Kate Upton’s beauty is now serving the Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition cover girl quite well. Back in the days on the family farm in Florida, however, she says things weren’t so easy.
“Living on a farm, beauty doesn’t get you anywhere. Because I was pretty didn’t mean I could convince my sister to do my chores,” she told Elle UK for the September edition. “It was kind of inconvenient to be pretty, growing up.”
Now, I don’t know what it’s like to be as beautiful as Kate Upton. In fact, few people in the world do… That’s why she’s a supermodel. But I can’t imagine it was really that difficult to be beautiful when she was younger. Doing chores and other normal things on the farm probably would have been “inconvenient” no matter how she looked, right?
Either way, after getting the curvy body she said she spent many years “begging for,” her modeling career took off.
“Because I’m from Florida, it’s all about being in bathing suits. It’s a different view of beauty there. You are ugly if you don’t have a curvy body,” she said. “And I didn’t have one, and then I got one, and thought, ‘Yessss!'”
