Kanye West And Miley Cyrus Denied Grammy Audience With Radiohead

Starcasm has some competition in the celebrity dissing game, and it comes from a most-unexpected source: Radiohead! The alternative English rockers spanked two of the largest and most famously childish egos on the planet when they spurned requests by Miley Cyrus and Kanye West to meet them backstage at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Kanye West and Miley Cyrus get dissed by Radiohead at the Grammys

Kanye aired his sob story during the taping of VH-1 Storytellers where he mentions that Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke had snubbed him at the Grammys and it hurt because he considers the band to be one of his few creative rivals. “So when he performed at the Grammys, I sat the f— down,” West said.

Miley cried her river of tears on the Johnjay and Rich radio show on March 3rd. The sixteen-year-old star of The Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana claims she wanted to meet with York, but her request via her manager was answered by Radiohead’s representative with, “We don’t really do that.”

During the radio interview Miley declares her love for the band by saying, “They’re like, my rock god. I am obsessed with them. This is the only person I would probably cry over. Like, I would cry.” But her one-way love affair came to a sudden stop, because she not only skipped out on the band’s performance at the Grammy’s, she also referred to them as “stinkin’ Radiohead” and flexed her tweenfluence with the statement, “I’m gonna ruin them, I’m gonna tell everyone.”

(If you can tolerate all the “like”s and the excruciating stream-of-lack-of-consciousness, here is the interview)

Somehow, I don’t think Miley Cyrus telling everyone about how she got snubbed by Radiohead is going to ruin them. But mark my words Radiohead, your impeccably cool resume of super-awesomeness cannot last forever! You will eventually make a slip, some small hiccup that deserves to be made fun of (maybe writing the score for a Broadway musical, or allowing Pete Wentz to play on stage with you, or a Cirque de Soleil show in Vegas, or appearing on one of those CSI shows, or dating Denise Richards, or promoting reusable cloth toilet paper…), and when you do, I’ll be waiting with pen an paper in hand! (Don’t think for a minute that if it’s announced that Thom Yorke is updating The Sound of Music for Broadway that I’ll be afraid to blast away with “Oholaydeeodleeolaydiohead.”)

For now, I’m gonna listen to The Bends for the millionth time.

****UPDATE 03/14/09 – Probably sensing some fun to be had, Radiohead has fired back. A statement released by the band addressing Biley Cyrus’ dejection states, “When Miley grows up, she’ll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement.” And Yorke wrote on the band’s blog, “Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you’re not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing.” Oh man! A war of words between Miley and Yorke?!? Don’t do it Thom! She’s unarmed!
