Justin Bieber ruptures eardrum cliff diving, may require surgery
In what many parents might consider a bit of cosmic karma, Justin Bieber has a ruptured eardrum suffered while cliff diving earlier today.
We don’t know too much about the injury, other than what The Biebs revealed in a series of tweets as well as a Facebook post moments ago:
Busted my ear drum cliff diving. Doc says might need surgery now. Sucks. My ear drum might back us up a little but I’m still bringing you this new music. Much love. Damn u cliff diving!
Having never experienced a busted eardrum myself, I decided to look into it a bit and here’s what I found at MayoClinic.org:
A ruptured eardrum — or perforated tympanic membrane as it’s medically known — is a hole or tear in your eardrum, the thin tissue that separates your ear canal from your middle ear.
A ruptured eardrum can result in hearing loss. A ruptured eardrum can also make your middle ear vulnerable to infections or injury.
A ruptured eardrum usually heals within a few weeks without treatment. Sometimes, however, a ruptured eardrum requires a procedure or surgical repair to heal.
Jumping off of cliffs is nothing new for The Biebs, the pop star made headlines back in November when he plummeted from a towering cliff in Hawaii. The moment even inspired a Justin Bieber cliff jumping Photoshop contest by the funny Bieber-lovin’ peeps over at The Soup:
Get well soon Biebs!
